Bec Johnson: General Manager

  • After working in the ski industry for 15 seasons, Bec is now quite the experienced seasonnaire. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, she spent 6 seasons at Mount Buller, one in Whistler and one in Niseko, Japan before settling in Banff. This is now her seventh season in Banff. She has several years experience in ski instructing, ski tech'ing, and custom boot-fitting. Bec’s favorite skis are the Dynastar Pro Riders, and the Moment Tara’s, the shops limited edition ski. Depending on her mood, she loves to ride at each hill for different reasons; Lake Louise for the terrain, Sunshine for the snow, and Norquay for the cozy local feel. Yet Bec claims that Revelstoke is her ‘home away from home’. Before she was caught up in the ski season bubble, Bec completed a Masters in Planetary Geology; she has worked as a Commercial Property Manager and Business Analyst and also in alternative therapies. Her strong interest for and previous career in kinesiology has led to her current profession as a custom boot-fitter which she has been practicing for 14 years.

Mike Byard: Rental Supervisor

  • Mike has come over to Canada from his hometown of Hobart, Australia. He is also into his second season in Banff, and loves snowboarding at Sunshine; his favourite run being the long, pleasant Banff Avenue. In his spare time Mike likes to eat anything vegetarian and is passionate about scuba diving; he has previously worked as a dive master on the Great Barrier Reef. He is a keen boarder and enjoys any type of riding, yet has also recently started to learn skiing on his favourite ski, the Sultan 80’s.
Kiomi

Kiomi

  • Kiomi is originally from Whitby in Ontario, Canada. Being born into a ski race family, she learnt to ski as soon as she could walk, and since then she hasn’t looked back. She returns to Banff after having already lived here 3 years ago, in the search for the perfect snow conditions, and to put her racing experience for the Oshawa snow-racing club into practice. Kiomi’s main aim this winter season is to enter a master’s race, and considers Jackrabbit at Sunshine Village her favorite run.
Simon

Simon

  • Simon comes from Rochdale, England and this will be his first ski season. Having worked in an indoor ski dome back home Simon wanted to get out and test himself on some real mountains and aim to put his ski instructor qualification to good use. Being a graduate of Outdoor studies and Geography, Simon is enjoying exploring the Banff’s varied terrain, and has made it his aim to get all of housemates skiing by the end of the season. Simon has also been fortunate to be told he is the spitting image of Chicken Little and Harry Potter.

Mac: Store Mascot

  • He might be the youngest in the shop but Mac pulls his weight entertaining customers and posing for photos. Being a dog doesn’t stop his love of fresh tracks; he’s a keen cross-country skier and has even been seen cruising the slopes at Norquay and hanging out at the Waldhaus Skate Rink.
